  Project Description

"In the 20th century a boy suffering from mental health gets influenced by media consumption causing a Dreaded Dreamscape where the child's mind is infected with hash feelings and negative emotions. Can he find a way out? Or will he forever be alone with their thoughts...." 

  Main Responsibilities

I was in charge of manging a group of 4 other designers to create a vertical slice having to be a Top down game.

challenges:

  • This being one of the first times I ever managed others caused to be more difficult than I expected at first as not everyone was talkative. So I needed to find ways for them to engage.

  • Having such quiet members within my team it meant that ideas were slow to form at first and feedback wasn't coming in. 

Managing:​

  • ​Scheduling out of class times meetings with group members lead to positive progress and workflow within the group while also conducting weekly progress reviews to make sure they weren't falling behind in any of their other modules.

  • Setting up a Trello board allowed myself to distribute work effectively to my team members allowing increase in productivity, while also seeing how well everyone is working. 

  • Conducting most of the research into pre-existing titles and media to help condense the initial idea of the game.

Lead Design: 

  • Creating assets needed for the level designer to implement into the level.

  • Sourcing royalty free sounds and adding those into the level where needed, in addition to ambient sounds.

  • Debugging and fixing bugs within the project itself being: Sequencer, Coding, Level design issues. 

  • Assisting other team members where it's needed. Creating assets, sequencers and finishing the woodlands level design.

About

My name is Kyle Kerr
I am an undergrad at Teesside University.

Video Games have always been apart of my life and through them I have learnt so many valuable lessons as well as experiences either through the game themselves or the community surrounding them. From the story of Halo: Reach to the gameplay mechanics of The Saboteur in addition to the more unique mechanics of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
 
As a games designer I aim to bring new and engaging experiences to my work while creating the same enjoyment and passion for games I had when I was younger. Besides digital games I also appreciate, board game, documentaries, movies and reading into new things.
